✶ Pieces adhering to the theme will be favoured.

✶ You must be aged 13-25 to submit.

✶ Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere! 

✶ Previously published work is not allowed. 

✶ The use of AI is strictly prohibited, and will result in rejection.

✶ Hateful and discriminatory content in any shape or form is strictly prohibited, and will result in rejection and blacklisting from future Morning Star Literary submission calls.

POETRY:
✶ You may submit a maximum of 2 poems per submission cycle
✶ A minimum of 10 lines / a maximum of 40 lines
✶ Times New Roman, single spaced, font size 12 (If your poem has unique formatting or a font/font size that is creatively relevant, we will accept it)

PROSE:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ A maximum of 1500 words
✶ Times New Roman, 1.5 spaced, font size 12

FICTION / CREATIVE NON-FICTION:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ A maximum of 2500 words
✶ Times New Roman, 1.5 spaced, font size 12
✶ We are accepting excerpts of larger pieces

SCREENPLAY:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ No more than 5 pages
✶ We are accepting excerpts of larger pieces
✶ Any font and size, but PLEASE make it legible!

ARTWORK:
✶ You may submit up to 3 artworks per submission cycle
✶ Digital art AND traditional artwork in any medium are accepted
✶ If traditional, please take a clear, well-lit photo of the piece

PHOTOGRAPHY:
✶ You may submit up to 5 photographs per submission cycle
✶ Clear, reasonable quality images only, please
